To ensure that there is no disturbance during the festivities of Durga Puja, the Cachar district police in Assam has formed a squad called "Anti-Romeo Squad" led by a superintendent of police.

Guwahati, Assam, October 8 (HBTV): To ensure that there is no disturbance during the festivities of Durga Puja, the Cachar district police in Assam has formed a squad called "Anti-Romeo Squad" under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta.

The squad was deployed to Cachar on Monday evening after 15 days of intensive training by bringing in experts from outside. After their training, the security guards performed a drill in the city on Monday evening.

Speaking to the media, Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta said, "Silchar is one of the historical places in Assam. Devotees here celebrate Durga Puja every year with great joy and enthusiasm. The entire city turns into a sea of people around this time. As a result, women including children have to face various difficulties in the overcrowded streets.”

In particular, he said, unruly youths roam around on bikes in different parts of the city and engage in indecent behavior against women.

Cachar police reviewed these issues and formed this special ‘Anti Romeo Squad,’ he said. The Anti-Romeo Squad will keep a strict vigil round the clock riding in bikes in different areas of the district, it was informed.
